The gut microbiota
Microbiota - is a collective term, which denotes all the intestinal microorganisms, which play an important role in digestion, immunity, etc.
The factors that influence the microbiota are very diverse: genetics, age, diet, physical activity, psycho-emotional state, medications, infections and inflammatory processes.
Modern approaches to regulating microbiota for clinical benefit include: probiotics and prebiotics, combinations thereof (symbiotics), certain antibiotics, lifestyle changes, FODMAP diet, fecal microbiota transplant (FMT

Gut dysbiosis
Dysbiosis - is a permanent or temporary imbalance between different types of natural gut microbiota, associated with IBD and IBS, obesity, nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, diabetes, depression, carcinogenesis, etc.
Clinical studies have shown that 16% of healthy people have moderate dysbiosis (DI 3); in patients with IBD and IBS in 20-30% - normobiosis (DI 1-2), and in 70-80% - severe dysbiosis (DI 4-5).

FODMAP - "fermentable oligo-, di-, monosaccharides and polyols". These are the so-called simple, poorly digestible carbohydrates that cause the fermentation processes in the gut:
- Food rich in fructans and galactooligosaccharides (wheat, barley and rye, onions and some legumes).
- Food that contains lactose, and fructose with glucose excess (apples, pears, asparagus, watermelon and honey).
- Food rich in mannitol, maltitol, sorbitol and xylitol (peaches, apricots and artificially sweetened foods).

Laboratory report
Laboratory report includes the results of the study: dysbiosis index (ID); functional imbalance - characteristics and ratios in the detected bacterial profiles with comments, prevalence (abundance) of bacteria. The report also contains additional information about the characteristics of individual gut bacterial species.
GA-map® – gut microbiota profiling platform
The innovative technology platform GA-map® uses variable regions (V3 - V9) in the 16S rRNA gene, which is common to all intestinal bacteria.
Molecular targets of bacteria are identified by multiplex analysis using single nucleotide primer extension technology (SNuPE).
For DNA hybridization, 48 molecular probes were used, identifying and characterizing more than 300 species of intestinal bacteria of different taxonomic levels.
The GA-map ™ Dysbiosis Analyzer software automatically compares detected bacterial levels in a patient, with those found in a healthy population, thus reliably differentiating normo- and dysbiotic gut microflora for clinically relevant results.
